Lenovo U260 is the first Ideapad laptop that actually looks good. The reason behind this is its magnesium-alloy casing and leather-like finish. U260 comes with a 12.5-inch display and sports a build quality that rivals the Macbook Pro by Apple.

Lenovo U260 comes with an Intel Core i7 class processor, up to 4GB of RAM and optional solid state drive. The prices start at 899 dollars for the basic model. The laptop has upscale looks and has ridiculously light chassis. It has just 3.04 lb weight and is mere 0.71-inches thick. The U260 is aimed at portability and thus does not come with an optical drive. It comes equipped with a 4-cell battery and only two USB 2.0 ports. Other specs include Blue-tooth, Wireless LAN (b/g/n) and 320GB hard disk drive.
The display has an anti-glare finish which is a nice change from the typical glossy computer notebook displays. You can output the display using the VGA and HDMI output ports and it is clear that Lenovo is not trying to be cheap out with the U260.
Keyboard, TouchPad
It is not an unknown fact that Lenovo makes some of the best keyboards around. I loved its keyboard and have no complains with it. The matte keys have decent tactile feedback and feel comfortable to my digits. However, I certainly do have some complains with that shrunken right shift key. Note that it is not a deal breaker, but it would take you some time to get used to it. Also, Lenovo does not offers a backlit keyboard option, which would have allowed me to type in the dark.
The touchpad has smooth surface and is just as good as the one found on the Macbook Pro. Multitouch gestures like two finger scrolling worked like a charm in Firefox web browser. The dedicated buttons did feel mushy, but I do not have any complains with it.
Performance
Lenovo offers U260 with three processor options - Core i3, i5 and i7. The one that I got came with Core i5 1.33GHz processor. The CPU handles multitasking and multiple browsers without a problem. I was also able to play both 720p and 1080p videos without any problem. My machine scored 3860 in the PCMarkVantage benchmark test which is pretty good for a mini laptop.
One thing that I would surely like to point out is that Lenovo has done a amazing job in keeping this laptop away from crapware. Just uninstall the McAfee and Oovoo applications and you should be good to go. No need to reformat the whole system like the Sony Vaio laptops.
Battery Life
Lenovo U260 gave me around 3 hours and 15 minutes while doing casual web-browsing, which is terrible for a mobile system like this. To make the matters worse, Lenovo has integrated the battery, so there is no way to swap it out with a fresh one. The only solution is to carry the AC adapter everywhere you go.
Bottom Line - If you can deal with the poor battery life, Lenovo U260 is clearly the dream laptop of every geek.
